Version1 vs Evil Geniuses

Map 1 – Bind

In the opening pistol round, Version1 quickly went down a player but were able to recover and clutch the round win. Round 2 started off in a similar fashion, but a massive double kill from Effys evened the numbers and led to an eventual round win for V1. Evil Geniuses finally answered back in Round 3. V1 responded with a thrifty and flawless Round 4. Penny had an insane 1v1 clutch against Com in Round 6 to extend V1’s early lead. EG were finally able to tie up the game in Round 8. V1’s defense held strong, and they went into the second half with a 7-5 advantage. EG started off their defensive run with a strong pistol round, tying the game 7-7. After a series of chaotic rounds, Evil Geniuses were able to take a two round lead. An explosive four kill sequence from penny late in the second half helped close the gap, and gave V1 momentum to not only tie the game, but hit match point. The match went into overtime, and V1’s defense prevailed in the first round. A strong offensive win in the follow round meant V1 claimed a 14-12 win on Bind.

Map 2 – Fracture

In the chaotic opening pistol round of the second map in the series, Evil Geniuses came out on top. After dropping round two, Version1 answered back with a flawless round three. and would tie the map up shortly. EG collected a thrifty round win, and quickly began to collect rounds on defense until V1’s Round 9 victory. However, EG had momentum in their favor, and the first half ended 9-3 in their favor. With a massive comeback needed, the second pistol round of the map went to Version1 in dominant fashion. V1’s strong defense was powered by a series of heroic plays from Zellsis, and back-to-back flawless round victories from V1 would tie the map 9-9. Evil Geniuses finally picked up an offensive round to take back their now diminished lead, but V1 answered right back. Two more defensive round wins, including the third flawless victory of the half, would put V1 at series point. EG, desperate to stay alive in the series, pushed the map to overtime. With a blundered buy from EG, Version1 took advantage and took the first overtime round on offense. With a final heroic clutch from Zander, Version1 took the map 14-12, winning the series.
