Version1 vs Complexity

Map 1: Breeze

Version1 started off hot on defense with a near-flawless opening pistol round. They continued their dominance with three more rounds to gain an early lead. Complexity finally gained an offensive win in the fifth round of the map, putting them on the board. COL capitalized on the momentum and quickly gained two more rounds. V1 answered back and kept their lead going into the last rounds of the first half. A huge multi-kill from Penny secured another defense for Version1 and although Complexity answered back with a thrifty round, V1 took the final round of the half and switched to offense with an 8-4 lead. A chaotic second pistol round went the way of Version1 to start off the second half. V1 followed that up with a flawless round to further grow their lead. Effys secured the 1v1 in round 15 and V1 took the following round to move them to match point. With a final 2v1 clutch from Zander, Version1 took the first map 13-4.

Map 2: Icebox

Complexity started off map two with a dominant defensive run, quickly gaining an early lead. Effys clutched a 1v1 in Round 5 to give Version1 their first offensive round. They followed that up with two near-flawless rounds to quickly close in on Complexity’s early lead. With two more strong offenses, V1 took the lead in the map 5-4. Complexity secured another defensive win to tie up the map once again. On the back of two defensive holds, Complexity secured a 7-5 edge going into the second half. In the second half, Version1 quickly evened the score with a pistol round win and a skillful defensive hold. Complexity were able to string together a series of successful spike plants, giving them a 10-7 edge in the latter half of the game. Despite Version1’s defensive fortitude, Complexity gathered another two rounds, moving them to match point. Taking advantage of a chaotic set of battles, Complexity were able to secure their spike plant and the final round, winning the second map 13-7.

Map 3: Ascent

Starting off on offense, Version1 narrowly dropped the opening pistol round. Chaotic rounds were traded back and forth between the two teams, with Complexity maintaining a slight lead. Complexity continued their defensive run, building to a 7-2 lead. Late in the half, Zellsis clutched a massive 1v1 to start to close the gap. Zander and Zellsis clutched a 2v4 to give V1 another offensive round before the second half. However, Complexity were able to maintain an 8-4 lead as the sides swapped. Complexity opened the second half by taking the pistol round. With their backs against the wall, Version1 needed to stop Complexity’s momentum. V1 put together a series of dominant defensive rounds, slowly closing in on Complexity’s lead. Winning 7 rounds in a row, Version1 tied the game up at 11-11 late in the second half. Despite heroic efforts from Version1, Complexity’s offense regained and took a thrifty round to move to series point. V1 were able to take the final round of regulation in the series to send it to overtime.

Overtime was a defensive playground, with every round going the way of the defensive team. However, Complexity were the first team able to break the streak, securing their defense and offense and taking the series. The final score was 16-14.
