Version1 vs Cloud9
NA VCT Challengers Lower Decider R2 vs Cloud9
Map 1 – Breeze
At the beginning of the first map, Version1 picked up the first four kills on Cloud9, which left mitch in a 1v5 situation. With an impossible task in front of him, mitch fell to penny, and Version1 took the first pistol round. Going into round two, C9 leaf got fancy with a marshal in hand. C9 mitch and leaf found themselves in a 2v2 situation against Zander and Zellsis and again C9 were unable to clutch, and another round went in Version1’s favor. C9 mitch found a massive double-kill to open the third round. This put Cloud9 in the perfect position to win the third round of the map, but effys got a surprising double-kill and won the round for Version1. Version1 was winning 4-0 and had no plans of stopping the carnage. Cloud9 finally put themselves on the board after losing 6 rounds in a row. They seemed to have found their second wind as vanity clutched a 1v2 with ease in the ninth round of the game. C9 trailed two rounds. As both teams switched sides, the score was tied 6-6. C9 slowly clawed their way back into this game. Cloud9 won the pistol round in the second half and took the lead for the first time all game. Cloud9 continued to extend their lead and assert their dominance, and for a split second, it looked like they were going to close out the game. But in the nick of time, Version1 became the comeback kids in many respects and ended up clutching and beat Cloud9 13-10.
Map 2 – Ascent
Version1 came out of the gates slow going into map 2. They lost the pistol round to Cloud9, and the game seemed to have gotten away from them as they lost nearly four rounds in a row. Version1 slowly began to get some rounds under their belts and took the lead in the ninth round of the game. Version1’s lead was short-lived, however, as Cloud9 began to find their groove. Cloud9 was now winning 9-5, and Version1 found themselves in a sticky situation. Version1 ended up bringing this game within two rounds, and the comeback looked more than possible. But Cloud9 simply played better Valorant this map and took the win over Version1, 13-10.
Map 3 – Fracture
After the map 2 win, Cloud9 was on absolute FIRE. Cloud9 won the pistol round, and this set them up to win the next three rounds straight. Version1 was in trouble, and they needed to make something happen and they needed to do it quickly. After Version1 secured their first round, things began to fall into place for them. Version1 trailed by three rounds and did everything in their power to close the gap on Cloud9’s lead. It was unfortunately too little too late for Version1, and they fell to Cloud9. Even though Version1 did not come out with the win, their efforts never went unnoticed. They played some amazing Valorant, but ended up losing the series 1-2.
