RLCSX Spring Regional 3 Day 2 Playoffs

Game 1 (3-4, OT)

Ghost came out firing in Game 1, with Mectos notching a hat trick with three goals in the first half of the game. V1 battled back, scoring a thrilling goal with no time on the clock to tie it at 3-3 and force OT.  In the extra period, Version1 survived an insane sequence of pressure in the fourth minute, but after a brief respite, Mectos put home his fourth goal of the game to give Ghost the win. 

Game 2 (3-0)

Crazy saves by both teams kept the game scoreless through most of the game’s first three minutes. On the defensive side, Comm kept out a ball that was right on the line, starting a sequence that ended with Torment putting home the game’s first goal at 2:15.  Torment and Gimmick would add insurance goals in the final minute for the 3-0 victory.  

Game 3 (0-1)

Freshness scored the game’s first goal two minutes in, which would prove to be enough for Ghost to take a 2-1 lead in the series. In the final minute Ghost’s defense prevented V1 from getting enough momentum to pull off another last-second goal.

Game 4 (1-3)

At 2:56 Gimmick made an incredible save, but Lionblaze was able to put in the rebound for his second goal of the game. Comm answered back for V1 just 14 seconds later to make it a one-goal game, but it wasn’t enough to spur a V1 comeback.  

With the 1-3 series loss, Version1 needs some help to qualify for the Spring Major and keep their season alive. Unofficial, unconfirmed reports are that the following need to happen for Version1 to keep their season alive: 

• Charlotte Phoenix lose to Rogue today 
• Ghost lose to Envy tomorrow 
• Alpine missing grand finals 
• Oxygen not winning the tournament 

So… there’s a chance…
