Minnesota Røkkr vs New York Subliners

Game #1
Hardpoint
Al Bagra Fortress

After the dust settled on P1, Minnesota Røkkr had earned themselves a 28-9 lead. For P2 and P3, neither team was able to get comfortable, and in the closing moments of P3, NYSL was only single point ahead of Røkkr — the score was 63-62 in NYSL’s favor. Bance found a series of high-value kills on P4, letting Minnesota Røkkr find a 98-87 lead. After a back and forth P1 and P2 on the second rotation, Røkkr chained together P3 and P4 to take a 179-163 lead. Bance heated up on P5, picking up three clutch kills and putting Røkkr narrowly ahead of NYSL as the third set of rotations began. Afro and Attach held the Sublienrs in a brutal spawn trap, and Røkkr won the first game of the series with a score of 250-206.

Bance sat at the top of the score board for Røkkr in the opening match, dropping 31 kills.

Search and Destroy

After the opening kills in the first round went the way of NYSL, Attach and Cammy battled their way back into a winnable situation during a tense 2v4 — Cammy emerged victorious from a 1v2 to find a win in the opening round.

Unfortunately for Røkkr, the celebration was short-lived. NYSL took the next six rounds in a row, winning the second match of the series 6-1.

Game #3
Control
Al Bagra Fortress

The Subliners started on offense, and were able to capture the A objective. After a close call at B, Attach and Bance were able to stabilize Minnesota’s defenses, ending the NYSL offensive push after Røkkr’s opponents earned one tick on the second objective. NYSL whittled away at Røkkr’s life count, taking an offensive win in the first round. Now on offense, Røkkr found a good opening break, but ultimately, Minnesota was unable to escape the spawn trap, and the round went in favor of NYSL.

Røkkr fought back, and with Cammy finding seven kills and putting Minnesota in an advantageous position, the team secured a defensive round win against NYSL and put their first round of the match on the board. Bance opened round four with seven kills of his own and used the Cruise Missile to help Røkkr secure the A objective. Despite a solid effort to open up B, Røkkr’s attacks were unable to yield a round win, and the final score was 3-1 in favor of NYSL.

Map: Hotel

Røkkr started hot on Game 4, taking a 23-9 lead after P1. Bance flanked his way into NYSL’s backlines and put a stop to NYSL’s efforts to lock down P2. However, NYSL’s strong rotations on the following hardpoints put Røkkr on the losing side of a 102-45 scoreline. Cammy and Bance were able to cut down NYSL’s lead to only 34 points. Attach held down P6, putting Røkkr only 12 points behind NYSL. The momentum from these holds carried into the second hardpoint rotation, and Røkkr’s hold on P1 was unbreakable, and Minnesota took a 31 point lead. Cammy, Cammy continued to heat up, leading the charge for Minnesota in the game-winning hardpoint break and ending the map with 31 kills to his name.

Game #5
Mode: Search and Destroy
Map: Fortress
Attach and Cammy recreated their first round performance from the first Search & Destroy match of the series, clutching the opening round and taking the lead 1-0. After a 2v4 went the way of Bance and Afro, Subliners struck back with a round win of their own. Bance earned himself three kills in the fourth round, extending Røkkr’s lead to 3-1. NYSL won the following round, but Bance and Afro deployed a lethal bait and switch tactic to put Røkkr on a 4-2 lead. Røkkr fought to put themselves in the driver’s seat, but NYSL won the next three rounds, and after the score sat at 4-5 in NYSL’s favor, Attach won a 1v1 to force a deciding Round 11.

Unfortunately, Røkkr’s hesitation in the final round cost them the map and series. NYSL took a 6-5 win in the Game 5 S&D to win the series 3-2.
