Version1 were defeated by FaZe Clan in the playoffs at RLCS Worlds.

Game 1

The opening game started with an early goal for FaZe, putting them up 1-0. Version1 sought to answer back, stringing together a series of promising offensive drives. Another set of goals was earned by FaZe on the counter-attack, giving Version1’s opponents a 4-0 lead going into the second half. Version1 started to rally back with a clean goal from BeastMode, but FaZe’s lead was enough to earn them a 4-1 win in the first game of the series.

Game 2

Version1 came out hot in the second game, as a spectacular display of teamwork set Comm up for an opening goal. V1 remained dominant on offense, keeping the ball on FaZe’s half of the pitch for the vast majority of the game and deflecting FaZe’s shots on goal with ease. As the clock ran out, Version1 remained unyielding at their goal, and the final score was 1-0 in favor of Version1.

Game 3

Both teams went into the third match hungry to establish an early lead in the game, but Version1 quickly set the pace of the match after a clinical shot on goal from BeastMode put them up 1-0. FaZe Clan briefly stabilized with an equalizing goal of their own, but BeastMode replied with back-to-back goals to give Version1 a 3-1 lead in the match. As the match played out, any hope of a FaZe Clan victory was snuffed out by Version1’s unrelenting offensive pressure — BeastMode’s three goals in the opening half of the match were soon accompanied by two more from Torment and Comm. Version1 were victorious in Game 3, and the final score was 5-1.

Game 4

Version1 and FaZe were both determined to establish airtight control of their respective goals at the start of the fourth match, but FaZe found a rare opening in Version1’s defensive setup and scored the opening goal of the match. Version1 pivoted into an offensive series of plays in an attempt to equalize the score, and a demo from BeastMode cleared the FaZe Clan net, giving Comm the perfect opportunity to score and tie the game at 1-1. Neither team was able to find another opportunity before the end of regulation, and the match moved to overtime. In a fierce overtime brawl with close calls on both sides of the pitch, FaZe managed to find the game-winning goal and the final score was 2-1 in their favor.

Game 5

The fifth game of the series got off to an explosive start, as Version1 swiftly scored the opening goal. FaZe answered back shortly afterwards, tying the game at 1-1. However, BeastMode refused to give FaZe the opportunity to extend this lead, and scored two back-to-back goals and giving Version1 a 3-1 lead.

The two teams traded attempts on goal with a ferocious intensity, and although Version1 scored again during this back-and-forth spectacle, FaZe gained momentum with several goals of their own and overtook Version1. In the final minute of play, the score sat at 5-4 in favor of FaZe. Version1 had a last-second opportunity to score an equalizer, but FaZe prevented the play from turning into a goal. The final score was 5-4 in favor of FaZe Clan.

Game 6

The sixth game remained scoreless as the clock approached halftime. Version1 ended the offensive drought first with a brilliant goal. Version1’s 1-0 lead held strong, but with less than a minute on the clock, FaZe managed to tie the game at 1-1. BeastMode’s trademark late-game offense provided Version1 with a 2-1 lead as the end of regulation approached. FaZe answered back, and the game went to overtime. Version1 made a decisive push towards FaZe’s goal, and as the two teams fought for control of the play, Torment seized an opportunity to launch the ball into FaZe’s goal, earning Version1 a 3-2 victory and taking the series to a Game 7.

Game 7

In the deciding match of the series, FaZe were the first team to find success, scoring an opening goal. Version1 applied significant offensive pressure, but FaZe’s defense remained airtight, and neither team was able to score. As the clock ran out, Version1 put forward one last drive to try and take the game to overtime, but FaZe cleared and dropped the, ending the game.

The final series score was 3-4 in favor of FaZe Clan, and Version1’s run at RLCS Worlds ended with a Top 8 finish.
