Minnesota Røkkr vs Paris Legion
Call of Duty League Stage 2
Start time determined by previous match results
Minnesota Røkkr’s Stage 2 schedule opened against Paris Legion on Friday. Both teams were coming off disappointing performances at the Stage 1 Major and hoped to start strong to open the weekend, before tougher match-ups later in the group schedule.
Unfortunately for Røkkr the highlights were few and far between. Minnesota fell to Paris, the ninth ranked team in the CDL in a 0-3 sweep.
Map 1: Raid Hardpoint
The opening map was a seesaw, with Paris sprinting out to a 168-94 lead after the first set of rotations. Røkkr battled back, controlling play over the next three rotations. Priestahh’s six killstreak opened up some breathing room for Minnesota, who gathered momentum heading in to P4 with a 216-199 lead. In the end, Paris’s defense held and Røkkr failed to score another point, allowing Legion to close out the win at 250-216. Despite the loss, Minnesota had the better stat lines: three Røkkr players finished with a positive K/D, led by MajorManiak at 1.27.
Map 2: Miami Search and Destroy
Map two started well for Minnesota thanks to strong individual efforts by Attach and Accuracy. The duo clutched a 2v3 in the opening round and Attach came away with two kills in the final moments. The high point of the day for Røkkr came in round 7, when a flanking Accuracy eliminated three Paris players. Despite the 5-2 lead at that point, Røkkr began to fall apart while Paris mounted a methodical comeback, ultimately taking round 11 by eliminating all four Røkkr players without a death. Aqua was the standout performer for Legion in map 2, leading the comeback and notching a 12/5.
While the first two maps were close engagements that broke for Paris in the end, Map 3 Control on Raid was a dominating performance by the Legion. Røkkr took its last gasp in the deciding round when Fire took out Accuracy and a flanking Classic eliminated Preistahh and MajorManiak.
Losing out of the gate was a tough way for Minnesota Røkkr to open Stage 2. Accuracy was the only Røkkr player to avoid a negative K/D on the day, finishing even at 39/39. Fortunately for Røkkr fans, the team has an opportunity to bounce back on Saturday when they take on the Florida Mutineers at 2:30pm CT.
