CDL Championship Weekend, Day 2: Minnesota R­økkr eliminates New York Subliners in 3-1 win

Minnesota R­økkr took out the New York Subliners on Day 2 of the Elimination Rounds. Teams only get one chance to advance and Minnesota stepped up to the plate. R­økkr will now face Toronto Ultra tomorrow. 

Map 1: Garrison Hardpoint

R­økkr came out of the gate aggressive and captured most of the first HP. NSYL managed to get to P2 and held it for almost the entire time. As expected, this was a very back and forth game. Minnesota started to break away and pulled ahead by 40+ points. After a 6-kill streak from Attach and a 5 kill streak from Priestahh, R­økkr were ahead by 100+ points. NYSL couldn’t get to the rotations and ultimately, Minnesota took the win at 250-122. Standy finished at an impressive 27/15.

Map 2: Raid Search and Destroy

Round 1 was a quick grab for R­økkr and NYSL answered and took a round for themselves. Every round that R­økkr won was reciprocated by NYSL and after round 6, the match was tied 3-3.  In the end, R­økkr couldn’t close it out. NSYL won that one 6-4. MajorManiak finished at 9/6 with a highest streak of 3 kills.

Map 3: Garrison Control

New York’s defense was too strong for R­økkr to find an opportunity to capture both points. NYSL’s Hydra even went on a 5 kill spree. The first round went to NYSL. 

Priestahh’s 5 kill streak put Rokkr in a good spot to win the next round. After trading rounds, the match went to a fourth round. Minnesota held it down on their defensive round and closed it out. R­økkr won 3-2. Standy finished with an insane 7 kill streak and over 5000 damage. 

Map 4: Checkmate Hardpoint

R­økkr started this Hardpoint HOT. After the first HP the score was 33-1. Strange enough, there was an issue with the match and had to be restarted. That didn’t faze Rokkr much because they picked things up right where they left it. After HP 1, the score was 34-1. The gears were just turning for Minnesota. Mid-match, Standy found himself on a 10x kill spree! It almost seemed impossible for NYSL to catch up, but something switched, and they took the lead. Now a neck and neck match, both teams were fighting to the best of their abilities. Minnesota held it down and took the W, 250-218. All the R­økkr guys were firing off: Priestahh had a 5 kill streak, Major Maniak with 6 and Attach with 5.
