CDL Major IV: Minnesota Røkkr vs New York Subliners

Game 1

Map: Bocage
Mode: Hardpoint

Røkkr started off hot with a 6-kill spree from Standy. Minnesota took a substantial chunk of time on P1 and won the rotation to P2. Subliners tried to make a comeback on P3, but Attach broke the hill solo, putting together a 6-kill streak of his own to keep the lead firmly on the side of Minnesota. Røkkr continued their dominance with solid breaks on the final hills of the rotation, leading to a 133-83 game in favor of Minnesota as both teams rotated back to P1. The first hills of the second rotation were highly contested, but Røkkr had a clinical break on P3 and a firm hold on P4, putting them over the 200-point mark. New York fought for time on the third rotation to P1, but Minnesota took the spawns for P2 and with their decisive lead, they were able to close out the opening hardpoint. Minnesota Rokkr took the Map 1 victory, 250-204.

Game 2

Map: Tuscan
Mode: Search & Destroy

The series moved to Tuscan for S&D, with Minnesota starting on offense. Attach took the opening first blood, giving his team a clear plant at B. A 2-piece from Havok secured the opening round win for Minnesota. Subliners took the following round, but a clutch 1v1 from Standy gave Røkkr the advantage yet again.

Capitalizing on their early momentum, Minnesota put together a string of decisive round victories, led by Standy, who not only secured a glide bomb, but ended the map 10-0. Minnesota Rokkr dominated Map 2, and the final score was 6-1.

Game 3

Map: Berlin
Mode: Control

Starting on offense, Røkkr were able to take an easy capture at B, but New York held strong at the A point and kept Minnesota from earning any ticks on the second point. A chaotic round 2 saw Subliners take an early capture at A and make an aggressive transition over to B to win the round and take a 2-0 lead in the game. Back on offense, Røkkr answered back with the same level of aggression, taking an early A capture and fighting toward B. The battle at B quickly bled both teams out of lives, and the map came down to a 1v1 that Subliners emerged from victorious. New York won Map 3, and the final score was 3-0.

Game 4

Map: Tuscan
Mode: Hardpoint

            Tuscan Hardpoint started off with a back-and-forth set of hills, but solid holds on P3 and P4 from New York put the Subliners in the lead.Rokkr answered back on P5 with a 5-kill spree from Attach and nearly a full 60 seconds of hill time. As both teams rotated back to P1, Attach earned a glide bomb and called it in to take the hill time. However, Subliners were able to extend their early lead, and despite Røkkr’s efforts, New York closed out the map. Subliners took the Map 4 win, 250-144.

Game 5

Map: Desert Siege
Mode: Search & Destroy

With the series tied at 2-2, it all came down to the game 5 S&D. Starting on defense, a 3-piece from Attach quickly secured the defuse and opening round for Minnesota. The following rounds were traded, leading to a tied game at 2-2. A round 5 1v1 clutch from Attach put him on a 5-kill spree and gave Rokkr the round lead. New York answered back with 2 clutch rounds of their own, taking a 4-3 lead. Subliners went up to map point and despite a heroic comeback from Minnesota, New York were able to take the map. New York Subliners took the map 5 win, 6-4, and the series win, 3-2.
