CDL Major IV: Minnesota Røkkr vs OpTic Texas

Game 1

Map: Bocage
Mode: Hardpoint

Røkkr had a strong start on the first two hills, and made a clean break to disrupt OpTic’s hill control to gain a 40-24 lead against the Texas team. Røkkr continued to gain momentum — Standy went on a 5-streak during P4, and heading into P5, the score was 90-59 in favor of Røkkr. For the first three hills of the second hardpoint rotation, Røkkr and OpTic traded objective control back and forth, but Røkkr maintained their lead. Attach and Standy orchestrated a brutal spawn trap against OpTic at the start of P4, and Røkkr held a 185-139 lead. Minnesota closed out the map successfully, and the final score was 250-186 in favor of Røkkr.

Game 2

Map: Tuscan
Mode: Search and Destroy

Havok dominated the first round of Search and Destroy, collecting 3 kills and giving Røkkr a 1-0 lead against OpTic. Despite this strong start, OpTic took the next four rounds. Priestahh and Standy played a critical role during a 3v4, helping Røkkr stay in the game and bringing the score to 4-2. The final score was 6-4 in favor of OpTic Texas.

Game 3

Map: Tuscan
Mode: Control

With the series now tied 1-1, Røkkr started Tuscan Control on defense. OpTic captured A, but an excellent hold from Priestahh prevented the Texas team from making headway on B and Røkkr took a 1-0 lead in the game. On offense, Røkkr mounted a successful push on A, and although strong performances from Havok and Standy helped Røkkr secure two ticks on B, OpTic’s defense proved resilient. With the score now at 1-1 and OpTic on offense, the Texas team claimed A early in the round. Minnesota defended the second objective, taking a 2-1 lead and earning a glide bomb on Priestahh in the process.

Now on match point, Røkkr were eager to close out the game, and although Priestahh’s glide bomb took out two OpTic players and gave Minnesota strong map control, OpTic tied the match 2-2 after successfully holding B. With OpTic on offense in the final round of the game, Røkkr’s tactical and disciplined defense was unbreakable on the second objective, and the final score was 3-2 in favor of Minnesota.

Game 4

Map: Gavutu
Mode: Hardpoint

Røkkr had a strong presence on P1, and took an early 39-4 lead on Gavutu. Standy picked up four kills leading into P2, and Røkkr extended their lead on the second hill. As the second P1 of the match spawned, Røkkr’s calculated rotations and impressive hill breaks had earned them a 138-87 lead against OpTic. However, OpTic chipped away at this lead, gaining both hill time and momentum with a strong P3 hold. Minnesota lost key rotational gunfights in the hills that followed, and OpTic emerged victorious on Gavutu Hardpoint. The final score was 250-204 in favor of OpTic Texas.

Game 5

Mode: Search and Destroy

Havok dominated the first three rounds, claiming six kills and leading the charge for Røkkr as Minnesota took a 2-1 lead against OpTic in the final match in the series.

Despite multiple first bloods and impressive lethal usage throughout the map, Røkkr struggled to close out rounds, and OpTic quickly gained momentum. The final score was 6-2 in favor of OpTic Texas. After losing this series, Minnesota Røkkr have been eliminated from Major IV and can no longer qualify for CDL Champs.
