Minnesota Røkkr vs Optic Texas

Game 1

Map: Bocage

Mode: Hardpoint

The series started on Bocage for the opening hardpoint. Having the undesirable opening spawns, Rokkr worked quickly to flip sides on the map and gain the spawns and rotation for P2. Both teams battled for control of P2, with Minnesota taking the slight lead. Hill control was traded back and forth throughout the following points, leading to an extremely close game with the scoreboard reading 86-75 in favor of Minnesota going into the second set of rotations. Rokkr took control of the game in the opening hills of the second rotation, quickly gaining a 40-point lead. OpTic attempted to answer back throughout the rest of the hills and the third set of rotations started with a 174-171 lead for Minnesota. With so much contested time, the game clock came into effect, with less than a minute remaining. After Texas was able to take a small lead, Attach went on a 7 kill spree to secure the hill time for Rokkr. Minnesota was able to regain the lead and run out the remaining time on the game clock. Rokkr was victorious in game 1, 208-195.

Game 2

Map: Bocage

Mode: Search & Destroy

Minnesota started on defense to open the Bocage Search & Destroy. Kills were traded back and forth, but Rokkr came out on top to secure the first-round win. On offense, Havok was able to win a heroic 1v1 to put Rokkr up 2-0. OpTic answered back with two swift rounds of their own, tying the game at 2-2. In round 5, a ninja defuse from Priestahh gave Minnesota the round lead once again. Several close rounds went in favor of Texas, putting them on map point. 2 clutch rounds from Rokkr sent game 2 to overtime. On offense, Rokkr played aggressively, quickly trading opening kills and laying down the bomb. With a clinical post-plant defense, Minnesota took the round 11 victory. Rokkr took the game 2 win, 6-5.

Game 3

Map: Tuscan

Mode: Control

Starting on defense, Rokkr was quick to surrender the A point and set up for their defensive hold at B. Texas was able to take a tick at B, but Minnesota was quick to clear them off. OpTic was able to take a 7-life lead through their next set of attempts at B. Although Rokkr fought valiantly against several waves of offense, the life lead proved too much and the first round went to OpTic. On offense, Rokkr was able to take the capture at A, but OpTic’s defense proved too strong at B, despite several solid offensive plays from Minnesota. Texas was able to take a 2-0 lead. Coming out aggressive on defense, Rokkr kept OpTic from securing A immediately, bleeding them out of the majority of their lives in the process. Texas was able to finally secure the A point and moved towards B. Minnesota held strong, but some calculated plays from OpTic allowed them to hop the point and take out the rest of Rokkr’s lives. Optic took the map 3 victory, 3-0.

Game 4

Map: Berlin

Mode: Hardpoint

The opening point of Berlin went in favor of Minnesota, giving them a 42-0 lead going into P2. Both teams fought for time on P2, with Rokkr maintaining their lead but Texas winning the following rotation. Rokkr’s smg duo was quick to break OpTic’s setup, leading to a chaotic hill. Both teams fought for control of the final two hills, leading to a close 102-90 scoreline in favor of Rokkr as the first set of rotations ended. The following trio of points was closely contested, but OpTic was able to take a slight lead. Rokkr was able to win the rotational gunfights and take the opening time at P4. Priestahh went on a 5 kill streak to keep the hill uncontested and give Rokkr the lead once again. Minnesota closed out the second set of the rotations with another strong hold on P5, putting them on the verge of victory. Although OpTic fought back, Rokkr was able to capture the last few seconds they needed and close out the game 4. Minnesota took the game 4 victory, 250-236, and the series victory, 3-1. With this win, Rokkr goes 1-0 in the Major IV Qualifiers and will play Florida Mutineers tomorrow, Sunday (06/26).
