Stage 4 Major, Day Three: OpTic Chicago defeats Minnesota Røkkr 3-1
It was a grueling battle to see another day in the Call of Duty League Stage IV Major. Unfortunately, Minnesota Røkkr’s run has come to an end with a 1-3 loss to OpTic Chicago.
Map 1: Checkmate Hardpoint
Map one started even. Both teams were trading kills and hill time. The match was nearly tied after the third hill. OpTic managed to push into the lead and it remained that way for the entire match. OpTic won Checkmate Hardpoint 250-180.
Map 2: Raid Search and Destroy
Minnesota planted at B, forcing OpTic to push and Røkkr picked them off. OpTic bounced back on offense and took out all Røkkr players, leaving the match tied 1-1. Round three resembled similar tactics in Røkkr’s first round: planting at A and taking out OpTic. Both teams went on to trade their offensive rounds and the match was tied 4-4. Despite Optic’s aggressive gunplay, Røkkr won the next two rounds, winning the match 6-4. Priestahh went 8/6 and Standy finished at 8/7.
Map 3: Checkmate Control
Røkkr was close to capturing point A but OpTic’s defense prevailed. In round two, OpTic secured point A and closed in on point B but Røkkr held them off with the help of Attach’s 5 kill streak. Røkkr was having difficulty securing any points and consequently, time ran out. In the end, OpTic managed to take the win by kills, winning the match 3-1. OpTic’s Formal, finished with an outstanding 35/19 and nearly 6000 damage.
Map 4: Garrison Hardpoint
This hardpoint match was similar to Checkmate: the lead and hills were traded for the majority of the match. Things came down to the wire but OpTic managed to outplay and win more gunfights than Røkkr. Despite Minnesota’s best efforts, they came up a little short. OpTic ultimately won 250-215 on this map. OpTic Scump went 32/24 and had 5500 damage.
