Minnesota Røkkr vs Dallas Empire
Call of Duty League Stage 5
Minnesota Rokk’s Hopes for a Winner’s Bracket Seed Dashed by Dallas Empire
Rokkr, King of the North, matched up against Dallas Empire with a full bar of cheering fans, but Dallas was out for blood.
Map 1 – Hardpoint: Garrison
Attach was a one-man slaughterhouse, and performed well in the face of an Empire at full steam. Dallas played so well as a team it was hard for Minnesota to crack into them, but that didn’t stop them from trying. Rokkr got initial spawns, and in the first rotation they held P2. Priestahh got excellent shots and happy fan hype, and Standy underfoot. Dallas set up traps from P1 to P5. Sadly, in the end, Minnesota ends with 170-249.
Map 2 – Miami: Search & Destroy
Minnesota needs to outperform on S&D to spin things around. It doesn’t look good with how quick the first round goes to Dallas, but Rokkr kept their head, and in the second round, they got into better positions. Attach is the last man standing and pulls off a solid win, getting the points and lifting Minnesota’s spirits, but Dallas didn’t stay down. Minnesota took the gloves off for the last few bouts, and the aggression paid off. Majormaniak was more than double-positive on the map by the time round nine came in, and when he was guarding defense he crippled the competition. Props to Majormaniak who found the kill and the round. Empire’s Shotzzy got a little big for his britches and made a push to regret, sacrificing a solid strategy by his team to Minnesota, who was ready to take the advantage. Ultimately, Minnesota recovered from Empire’s initial victory by snatching Map 2.
Map 3 – Raid: Control
To get the seed they’re after, Rokkr needed to claim Control. Positivity going in from their S&D win translated to an aggressive push at the start… but it wasn’t successful. Dallas got the positions, pushed through kitchens, and got dug in where they could be truly dangerous. Everything looked bleak until Rokkr pulled off the team wipe they needed, in the end Standy mantled, costing Minnesota, and Dallas ahead, 1-2.
Map 4 – Hardpoint: Checkmate
Minnesota was on the back foot, and palms sweaty. Dallas played a hard game. They had incredible SMGs on this map, and Vivid played ominously well. It didn’t start well for Minnesota, with good picks went to Empire. The real trouble all around was Shotzzy, who’s transformed himself into chaos with a gun. Down by 100 points, Rokkr didn’t give up and delivered a crowd-pleaser, and closed the hundred-point gap to just 11, for a final score of 239-250.
