Game 1: The second match of the day was streamed on the main RLCS Twitch channel where over 106,000 people were watching as V1 took on the Kansas City Pioneers. Out of the gate, V1 looked stellar on defense and aggressive on offense. The teams went back and forth down the pitch until Gimmick scored the lone goal of the match at 1:52. V1 wins 1-0.
Game 2: The Pioneers dominated game 2 as Version1 struggled for most of the game with timing their boosts. The first goal came on a transition from Memory, who then notched his a second goal with 1:40 left to play after Comm was slow to get back in transition. The Pioneers are up 2-0 with 1:40 left to play. Torment answered with just under a minute left, with a goal that deflected off a KCP car right in front of the net. Soon after, Beastmode scored on a flip reset and then Memory took advantage of open space coming out of kick-off to score and put the Pioneers up 4-1. KCP wins game 2.
Game 3: Memory had an incredible game for the Pioneers, scoring 6 goals on 6 total shots. KCP completely piled it on V1 and cruised to a convincing 8-1 win.
Game 4: V1 managed to shake of a crushing loss in game 4 and came out strong. Comm scored first about :30 seconds in. Torment made an epic save to keep KCP out of the net then deflected a second shot immediately following to keep the lead. Gimmick added a goal, threading the ball in with 1:15 left to play to put V1 up 2-0. Version1’s defense continued to battle to keep the Pioneers out of the net. In total, KCP had 10 shots on goal and V1 ended game 4 with 9 saves. V1 wins, 2-0 and forced a game 5.
Game 5: Beastmode scored the lone goal of the game about one minute in after Memory took a second touch at the goal line and made an easy pass in front of a wide open V1 goal. Despite a few chances, V1 wasn’t able to get on the board. The Pioneers win the final game, 1-0.
Version1 went 1-1 on Friday (Day 1) of the Spring Split Regional 2. They play again on Saturday in the Knockout Gauntlet.
