Map One Split: 13-9
We started out on attack, lost the pistol round and unfortunately lost the second round as well, but as we all know in VAL that doesn’t mean it’s the end of the world. However, in today’s case, it didn’t turn out well for the entire first half. A round nine ace from Som made it 8-1, but Zellsis and Vanity made sure to keep things as close as possible, as the first half wrapped up V1 down 4-8.
It seemed that we needed the momentum at the end of the first half to carry over, and carry over it did. We continued our round streak, where we took nine straight. Wippie was 26-12 as of R18 (eventually dropping a 30-bomb) and had no plans of letting up at all. From the defensive side of things, Version1 only let up one round.
Map 2 Ascent: 13-6
Our start for map two was much better than map one. In response to the 0-8 start on Split, we won our pistol rounds … and our first buy rounds … and four more rounds after, as we started out hot at 8-0 on Ascent. Zellsis was 13-1 after the first half.
Clearly defense is the move on Ascent. NRG found a way to get themselves back in it as they took five straight on their own to make it 8-5 halfway through the offensive push by V1. Pioneered by an absolutely cracked Zellsis going 26-8-3 through 17 rounds. Version1 powered through, absolutely stopping for nobody. With ANOTHER near-30 bomb, this time from Zellsis who went 28-9-4, Version1 clinched a T4 spot!
