Version1 vs Sentinels

Map 1 Bind: 8-13

It looked like the Version1 crew was excited about the Grand Finals, as each V1 player locked in an agent they don’t typically play. The lineup was Vanity on Yoru, Wippie on Omen, Zellsis on Viper, Penny on Raze and Effys on Sova. Th first half went back and forth, round by round between the two Iceland-bound squads, with a 7-5 score at the switch.

As we hopped onto the offensive side of the map it was all TenZ and all Sentinels to start. They took the pistol round behind a TenZ 4K followed by a bonus round win to boot. From there it was Sentinels, Sentinels, Sentinels … taking 7 of the next 8. We fell 8-13 on map one.

Map 2 Haven: 9-13

Version1 switched back to more of their normal lineup, specifically with Vanity as IGL on Astra and Zellsis as entry fragger running Reyna. Sentinels are notoriously impressive on Haven, which is why it is commonly vetoed map, and they certainly proved that for the first half going up 4-8 at the switch.

We have talked a lot about TenZ already, and in the second half here we saw a ton of him and his Operator. Version1 fought back as best they could, at one point coming within just two rounds at 9-11. As we looked to make a statement behind some Effys kills in the late round play, but it wasn’t enough to overcome. We lost map two 9-13.

Map 3 Icebox: 9-13

Icebox is a top Version1 map choice and usually gets vetoed when we try to have it in rotation. Not in this case. To start, V1 regained, splitting the first six rounds dead even at three each, as the team tried to forget about the other map losses today. Vanity and his Reaver Vandal led us to three straight round wins, finally giving us a proper lead, up 6-3. It didn’t matter though, we end up dead even at the half 6-6.

Assuming its position as defenders, it was time for V1 to show up for the back half. SEN took four straight off the rip, but thanks to a disgusting 4K by Penny in R18 V1 was able to make it a 8-10 showdown. It just wasn’t enough to finish it out though, and V1 end up losing the third map 9-13. GGs SEN, see you in Iceland!
