Podcasting: it’s in Version1’s DNA!

SHARE

From day one, Version1 embraced podcasting as a way to share information with fans, followers and its communities. The first V1 podcast, Building Minnesota Røkkr, provided listeners with a look behind the scenes at what it was like to build an esports organization from the ground up.

Podcasts remain a staple at the organization while V1’s focus shifted from establishing to continuing to build and grow. V1 podcasts are often the source of information that isn’t available anywhere else: exclusive interviews with our players and ownership, hot takes and competitive analysis, plus opportunities for V1 and Røkkr fans to connect and engage in real time.

Podcasts at V1 evolve

While the sun has set on Building Minnesota Røkkr (episodes are archived here), Version1 recently partnered with Minnesota sports radio station KFAN100.3 to start the

Røkkr Talker podcast. The show reports on the team and week-to-week developments in the Call of Duty League. Host and KFAN producer Brett Blakemore interviews Røkkr players, coaches and others in the CoD community to provide analysis about strategy in terms any sports fan or esports newbie can understand.

In a regular segment called “Slang of the Week,” Blakemore asks the players to break down CoD terms and in-game lingo. And recently, he’s started to invite listeners and Røkkr fans to submit questions for the players that he asks them during interviews. To submit your questions for Attach, Priestahh, Accuracy and Standy use #KFANRokkr or #Rokkrfanline on Twitter or Tweet at @BrettKFAN by Tuesday each week. New episodes drop on Thursdays; you can listen on KFAN’s website or wherever you get your podcasts.

Another new podcast, The Rotation is hosted by Version1’s Director of Content, Ashley Glassel (aka MiDNiTE) and CoD insiders, Kingdom Soldier and IKON. The podcast offers insight into Call of Duty League, weekly tournament predictions and special guests who further the discussion. The show is livestreamed on Tuesdays at 7:30p.m. central on Røkkr’s YouTube and fans who tune in can join the conversation in the chat. VOD of each episode is also available on YouTube afterwards.

So far, V1 has focused primarily on podcasts centered on Call of Duty and Minnesota Røkkr, but in the future the possibilities are wide open on other topics, titles and esports trends.
