Up for grabs: Major appearances, LAN in Iceland and Stage III victories. This week at Version1.

Version1 teams

Version1 and Røkkr fans have another weekend of exciting competition ahead of them, as V1RL and V1VAL continue competing and Minnesota Røkkr looks to battle back and earn a pair of wins in week two of #CDL2021 Stage III.

Let’s get into it.

V1VAL could be the organization’s first team to compete on LAN in 2021 if they show up and do the work this weekend in the VALORANT Challengers Final. V1VAL is one of eight competing for one of two spots available to NA teams at the VCT Masters Two on LAN, in May in Reykjavík, Iceland.

 You read that right: ICELAND.

The matches. So how does the team get there? The best way is to win and keep winning. The Challenger Final is double elimination – so even if we fall once, we can stay alive if we win our next match and win out from there. As you may have noticed, there’s a new face competing alongside the V1VAL squad: Wippie! He’s trialing with the team and will compete this weekend in the Final. Here’s what we know so far about the schedule:

  • Thursday, April 29 versus Sentinels, 3:00 PM CT
  • Friday, April 30  TBD
  • Saturday, May 1  TBD
  • Sunday, May 2 TBD

Where to watch.Matches will be livestreamed onNerd Street Gamers Twitch, and for the first time, Version1 will bring you its own co-stream featuring Version1’s very own Tyler BirschbachDillon Pomeroy and Amy Paschke, on a co-host rotationThese folks are the internal VCT schedule experts and die-hard VALORANT fans, so join them for every V1VAL match this weekend on the Version1 Twitch to stay up to date on all the action of the Stage 2 Challengers Final 2.

Røkkr lost its first match to Florida last week in the opening rounds of Stage III group play and needs to bounce back to gain momentum in the standings. There are two chances to watch and win this weekend!

The matches. Minnesota looks to avenge itself against Paris on Fridayafter the Legion swept Røkkr in the opening match of Stage II back in March (brush up on what happened in the match recap). Røkkr also faces a familiar foe this weekend: Toronto Ultra, the team responsible for ending its Major II campaign and the eventual Stage II champion (get a match refresher here). Røkkr has its work cut out for it, but we know this team likes a challenge.

  • Friday, April 30 versus Paris Legion, 3:30 PM CT
  • Sunday, May 2 versus Toronto Ultra, 3:30 PM CT

In a surprise to no one who has followed V1RL through its inaugural season, the team tied with Ghost for a qualifying spot in the NA Spring Major. The teams tied at 9th place with 470 points, necessitating a playoff this weekend.

The match. On Sunday, May 2 at 5:00 PM CT, V1RL and Ghost face-off in a best-of-seven series. The winner qualifies for the Major, the loser goes home.
