VERSION1 vs Envy

Heading into its fourth match of the night, Version1 faced a tall task, taking on Envy. The teams spent the first couple minutes of the first game warming up and feeling each other out. V1 looked confident, pressing into their half of the field. Regardless of a strong start, Envy got on the board first, scoring just about half-way into the game. Envy quickly netted a second goal, going up 2-0.  With one minute left, Comm drove to goal, dodging multiple Envy defenders to put V1 on the board.  It wasn’t enough.  V1 falls to Envy in game one. 

Game two started off slower, but Comm continued to flex on offense to make Version1 look dangerous. After a few near goals, Comm finally scores with under two minutes left.  The team quickly transitioned to defense to try and keep Envy off the board. With under a minute, Gimmick scores to put V1 up 2-0. V1 wins game two, 

The match series was tied up and game three started off like the second game. Envy gets on the board first. Comm and Gimmick met up to attack the goal and put Version1 on the board at just over one minute left. A near second goal was narrowly saved by the Envy defense, but V1 continued to fight to stay on offense. Heading into overtime, once again, V1 fans are resigned to see the team’s OT calling card return in its first matchups of the new RLCS season.  This time, OT was worth it. Gimmick scored to earn the V1 win over two minutes into the match.  

Envy dominated in game three, despite game play looking even. Envy scored three to win the game and even up the series.  

Both teams looked stubbornly optimistic in the deciding game five, but Version1 couldn’t get on the board despite a promising look from Torment halfway through. Heading into the last minute of game five, the heat was on. But, surprising no one, game five – which, if won would qualify V1 for the next round, went to OT. Well into the fourth minute of overtime, Envy scores to win the series 3-2.
