After a painful 0-5 record in the Major III Qualifiers, Minnesota Røkkr faced off against Los Angeles Thieves in the Lower Bracket. Although Røkkr put themselves within reach of victory on the first and third maps of the series, LAT emerged victorious, claiming a 3-0 win against Minnesota Røkkr and eliminating them from Major III.

Game 1 | Røkkr vs. LAT

Røkkr got off to a strong start in Game 1, with Cammy and Afro finding important kills on the opening hardpoint and flipping spawns in their favor for P2. LAT and Røkkr fought fiercely for control of P2, and Røkkr surrendered the scrap time on the hill to secure favorable spawns for P3. The two teams traded the lead back and forth during the first rotation, but as the second hardpoint rotation began, Minnesota Røkkr were ahead of LAT by over 20 points and a successful hold on P1 would mean victory. Røkkr made the choice to prioritize spawn control on P2 over trying to win the game on P1 — with Afro leading the charge and spawns in their favor, Røkkr were ready to lock down P2, but a heroic series of plays from LAT disrupted this plan. After Los Angeles Thieves took control of the hardpoint, Røkkr were unable to reclaim the hill in time, and the final score was 250 – 236 in favor of LAT.

Game 2 | Røkkr vs. LAT

Mode: Search and Destroy

Cammy had a strong opening round, finding two kills to give Røkkr some early momentum. LAT equalized the score at 1-1 in the following round, and although Bance was able to find a double kill to tie the match at 2-2, Los Angeles Thieves won four straight rounds in a row to claim a 6-2 victory in Game 2.

Røkkr took control of B early in the opening round, and quickly transitioned over to A — Attach found four crucial kills during Røkkr’s assault on the second obejctive, and the opening round went in favor of Minnesota Røkkr. Now on defense, Minnesota Røkkr were unable to stop LAT from securing A, but as their opponents began to focus their attention on breaking B, Røkkr successfully drained LAT’s lives and were in a position to close out the second round. However, with only 6 lives left, LAT successfully broke through Røkkr’s defenses on B, and as Røkkr raced to try and contest the objective, LAT captured the point and tied the score at 1-1. With the following round also going in favor of LAT, Minnesota Røkkr were now down 2-1. Røkkr captured A early again, but LAT’s defenses on B held firm. Røkkr were unable to claim the second objective, and the final score of the match was 3-1 in favor of Los Angeles Thieves.
