Minnesota Røkkr vs OpTic Chicago

24 hours after the CoD gods cursed Røkkr with an errant team kill in game 5, round 11 vs. Empire, they blessed Accuracy with the strength to clutch up for an ace in the final sequence versus Optic today. It was an epic ending to a match that will long be remembered by Røkkr fans.

Map 1: Garrison Hardpoint
The opening map started rough for Røkkr, with Optic controlling the pace of play for the first set of rotations and leading 117-54 heading into P5. From that point Røkkr absolutely dominated, scoring 190 of the next 250 points.  In the second set of rotations Røkkr took the lead with a nearly perfect 120 seconds on P1 and P2, followed by Attach using streaks to clear Optic off P3 and allowing Røkkr to take control of the match. Røkkr wins 244-175.   

Map 2: Express Search and Destroy
Røkkr had ample opportunities in map 2, but were unable to parlay a 5-3 advantage in first bloods into wins. Formal had several big plays for Optic as they cruised to a 6-2 map win.

Map 3: Garrison Control
Optic won the opening round, but from that point forward Røkkr turned in one of the most dominating Control performances of the season.Røkkr won round 2 with solid defense. In round 3 Røkkr flawlessly executed a rare attack on both points for the win. While the SMG duo of Attach and Standy opened with several key kills to control the A point, Accuracy held down B and Priestahh kept Optic at bay in their spawn. Røkkr carried that momentum into round 4 where they secured the 3-1 win.

Map 4: Moscow Hardpoint
Optic dominated map 4 from the opening break. They were a step ahead every point and cruised to a 250-138 win, sending the match to a map 5. Formal lead the way for Optic at 28/12.

Map 5: Moscow Search and Destroy
This match seemed destined to come down to the final play, with Røkkr continually battling back from down 0-2, 2-4, and 3-5.Down 3-5 and needing to win three straight rounds to advance to championship Sunday, Røkkr went to work. In round 9 Standy got two critical kills to give Minnesota life and great team play in round 10 tied it up heading into the decisive map 5, round 11. With Optic on offense in Round 11, they opened with a push to A before encountering Standy and Priestahh. After a brief move towards B, Optic returned to the A site and took out both Røkkr players. In a 2v4, Accuracy wrapped around and took out Envoy as Attach pushed up the escalators. Scump was able to take down Attach but was reduced to 30 health in the process. Accuracy was left solo in a 1v3, but knew that Scump had been weakened in his fight with Attach and Accuracy’s own grenade had nicked Formal and pushed all three players into the same general location. Sensing this would be his only chance and with ice in his veins, Accuracy made the split second decision to challenge the three Optic players, and somehow took out them all.“I knew, either I chall(enge) right now…or it’s over. So I went for it and got blessed” said Accuracy in the post match interview. “We got blessed with another life and we want to take advantage of it tomorrow.”With the victory, Røkkr advances to take on Toronto Ultra. That match will open Championship Sunday, at 2:00pm CT. Røkkr will need to win three consecutive matches to win the major, with a rematch with Dallas Empire plus Atlanta Faze on the docket if they can emerge victorious in the next Battle of the North against Ultra.
