Call of Duty League Stage 3
Minnesota Røkkr defeats LA Guerrillas 3-2 to open CDL Stage III, week 3
Minnesota Røkkr faced the LA Guerrillas, including former Røkkr players SiLLY and Assault, to kick off CDL 2021 Stage III, Week 3. This was a battle of two different play styles: slow and steady against fast and aggressive. Minnesota’s aggressive approach prevailed in a well-deserved win – but the match went to five maps. Røkkr looks to keep the momentum going as they take on Empire on Sunday at 5PM CT.
Map 1: Apocalypse Hardpoint
The LA Guerrillas held P1 and the majority of P2 until Røkkr flipped and gained map control. Røkkr kept the lead for the remainder of the match, although things got close after Røkkr narrowly won P4 199-198. After a neck and neck hardpoint, Minnesota ended things at a stunning 250-198 win. Standy finished at 29/17 and Attach had 5K damage.
Map 2: Moscow Search and Destroy
Røkkr carried their momentum from map one into a strong opening for Search and Destroy. They started off with aggressive play and easily secured round one and two. LAG maintained their poise, played a steady game and took round three and four. LAG’s Cheen nearly got an ace in round five and made big plays for his team. After trading rounds back and forth, the match went the
distance, to round 11. After an accidental grenade stick by Standy onto Attach, LAG closed it out with the win. Priestahh led the Røkkr at 12/8, over 1,000 damage and five first bloods.
Map 3: Raid Control
Minnesota bounced back and completely dominated the Guerrillas making this their second Control 3-0 win of the season. Standy led the team at 24/15 and with the collective help of the rest of the team, Røkkr simply outplayed LAG.
Map 4: Checkmate Hardpoint
Hoping to close it out, Minnesota ended P1 comfortably at 41-0 and were looking to extend their lead. LAG were on top of the next rotation and evened the score after P2. The victory pulled further and further away from Røkkr as LAG beat them to every rotation. Apathy led LAG to a 250-145 win at 31/16.
Map 5: Miami Search and Destroy
