RLCSX NA Spring Regional Day 0

Our second match of Day 0 was against Stromboli.

Game 1: 3-1

Twelve seconds. That’s all it took for Torment to score in the first match. From there, a Shadow goal a minute later brought things to 1-1, but Gimmick made sure to bury a clean shot of his own once he had the chance. We held a one-goal lead for a full two minutes and Comm added one last tally to the home team column that brought the final score to 3-1. V1 took the first map!

Game 2: 4-3

It was a wild first minute and a half, as five goals were scored in the first 90 seconds. Stromboli’s Shadow started the frenzy with a quick one capitalizing on a double commit by the V1 defense. Luckily, Torment recovered quickly to put one in of his own. Shadow found a way past us again moments later, but that just motivated Comm to put his second of the series in to make it a 2-3 game. Finally, with a minute remaining, Gimmick found a way to level things at 3-3. Torment decided to join in the comeback fun and got one of his own: a beautiful double tap from the top left back wall that ensured us the victory!

Game 3: 1-2 OT

Things started out a tad differently in Game 3 thanks to a few saves by both squads. Shadow broke the stalemate, utilizing his aerial skills with a heavy ceiling shot. Then, there was more of the same, with neither team breaking stride until Comm found a clean line of sight to send us to our fourth OT of the day — the first of this series. After a long three minutes, AlRaz found a way to steal one from us. We fell in Game 3, 1-2.

Game 4: 0-4

Up by only one game, we needed to find a way to wrap things up. However, Stromboli had different plans for the V1 squad; they scored once and held the lead for a stressful two minutes. AlRaz put home a couple more and Kinseh added his own just because. We lost Game 4 with a devastating 0-4 final score.

Game 5: 0-1

No surprise here: it’s a Version1 game five. It was once again a winner-take-all situation, and unfortunately Kinseh managed to get the first goal for Stromboli. Also, really unfortunately for V1, that first goal was the only one scored for the entire five minutes of play. Even with a solid ten touches after the clock struck zeroes, we just could not find the net. Version1 lost to Stromboli 2-3. We went 1-1 on Day 0.
