After Version1 took out PrideStark Empire three games to one in the RLCSX Spring Regional Day One action, Day Two (March 20, 2021) promised drama.

Game-by-Game Highlights of Match Against Envy

Game 1: Version1 started off hot with the first shot of the game, but alas, no goal. After a quick start the game slowed to a grind! It was back and forth, the commentators called it a wrestling match and there was no score at the 3 minute mark. At under 2 minutes left, there had been 4 shots for Version1, 0 for Envy. The teams tried to find room with the ball. There was still no score as Comm made a wiggle dribble and great pressure with ten seconds left. Suddenly, an amazing give and go between Mist and Turbopolsa gave them a calculated goal, the only goal of the game, with :03 seconds left on the clock for the Envy win.

Game 2: Comm made a good first shot but a bad bounce gave Turbopolsa an open run to score the first goal only seconds into the game. Atomic scored the second goal with a high angle. Torment missed the save with what looked like hesitation and Atomic got goal number 3 for Envy. Turbopolsa was all over the place. Mist cleaned up a bounce off the back wall to score goal 4 for Envy. Turbopolsa scored off the face off for goal 5 with 1:57 left in Game 2. Version1 got their first goal of the match with an 87 mph banger from Gimmick. Immediately Mist responded with goal 6 of Game 2 for Envy. There was a great save from Torment with 1:30 left in the game. Mist then scored the 7th goal of the game with 6 seconds left. Envy dominated Game 2 with a lackluster defensive effort from Version1.

Game 3: Gimmick started with a free shot on net for goal 1 of Game 3 and the first lead of the series for Version1. Comm made an amazing play; Gimmick found himself saving Comm’s double tap while Gimmick was going for the demo of the keeper. A tough break for V1 led to another goal by Atomic, tying the game with 2:20 left. Version1 lost defensive discipline and Envy came back with a second goal, taking the lead 2-1.  Version1 found themselves bunched up in the corner. Comm tried to bail them out but Envy cleaned up the chaos with their third goal of the match and finished 3 to Version1’s 1.

Version1 lost the match 0 games to 3, making Envy 15-2 in recent games.

An amazing effort by Envy wasn’t the end of the road for Version1 on Day Two; next they went on to face off with Ghost Gaming.
