RLCS Spring Split: The Grid Day 2
Match 3 – V1 versus Rogue
Version1 wrapped up match 3 and day 2 of The Grid falling to Rogue in game five. Despite the loss, Version1 proved they can hang with one of the best teams in the RLCS.
Game 1 – Version1 entered the game with its pedal to the ground: Torment scored just 6 seconds in. Comm struck again shortly after making it 2-0. Rogue woke up and answered by taking advantage of a V1 defensive lapse scoring at 3:42 and the game is at 2-1. V1 answered with a goal from Torment and Comm each; V1 won game 1, 4-1.
Game 2 – Rogue’s Firstkiller was first to strike in game 2 on an open net just 1 minute in. Gimmick answered with a flick and a goal off the kick-off then scored a second in a transition from defense to put V1 up 2-1. Firstkiller responded by ripping a shot from half-field to even it up, 2-2. Both teams go ta goal and headed to overtime at 3-3. Torment ended the game with a goal and put V1 up 2 games to nil, winning 4-3.
Game 3 – True to form, in game 3, Rogue caught up with the fast pace V1 set at the start. Firstkiller cleared the ball off the wall above the Rogue goal and the deflection was enough to bounce into V1’s goal all the way on the other side of the pitch. Rogue up 1-0. Taroco, followed up to score another one with 2:42 remaining. Comms answered and put V1 on the board, but it wasn’t enough. Rogue won, 2-1.
Game 4 – The teams kept pace with one another, and it was back and forth. But Taroco scored first with just a minute remaining. Rogue won a defensive battle, 1-0. The series headed to game 5.Game 5 – Gimmick opened the deciding game with a goal on kick-off and Comm followed that up in convincing fashion, scoring with 3:56 remaining. Rogue took over and scored 6 total and won the deciding game, 6-3 against V1.
