The second match of the day, the squad looked to right the ship against G2 Esports.
Game-by-Game Highlights of Match Against G2 Esports
Game 1 – Torment scored the first goal of the match off the kick-off. Comm scored goal 2 for Version1 at 4:45. Torment then scored his second goal of game, giving Version1 a 3-0 lead. JKnaps scored the first goal of the match for G2 Esports. Dreaz scored at 1:37 but Version1 still led by 1. After an epic save by Gimmick, Chicago tied the game for G2 Esports with :19 seconds left. Gimmick scored the winning goal at +:51 in overtime to secure the win in the first game of the series.
Game 2 – Comm got the rebound to score the first goal at 4:44. With a great save by Torment, Version1 kept the lead going until JKnaps scored at 2:44 to tie the game 1-1. Dreaz then scored off the counter-attack, giving G2 Esports the lead 2-1. Gimmick scored at 1:02 to tie it back up 2-2. Gimmick scored again in overtine, winning the game and taking Version1 up two games in the series.
Game 3 – It was a battle as there was no score with 2 minutes left to play in the game. Comm scored from deep in the field taking Version1 up 1-0. Dreaz from G2 Esports scored to tie it up 1-1 with a very quick response. Comm executed a great save to keep it tied and the game pushed into overtime. There was lot of pressure from Version1 but still no score +2:00 into overtime. Then +3:00. And +4:00. JKnaps finally scored at +5:19 giving G2 Esports the win.
Game 4 – JKnaps scored 12 seconds into Game 4 , giving the early lead to G2 Esports. JKnaps scored again at 4:31. Gimmick then scored at 4:07 to bring the game to 1-2. Comm tied the game at 4:00 but Dreaz immediately responded within 4 seconds to retake the lead for G2 Esports 3-2. After a great save, Gimmick tied the game 3-3 with an amazing shot at :09 seconds left. Then in overtime, Dreaz scored at +3:27, pushing the match to a Game 5.
Game 5 -An epic save by Comm a minute in kept it 0-0 at the start of Game 5, but Chicago scored off the follow-up. Comm scored a game-tying goal at 1:29 to keep the series alive for Version1. Another epic save, this time by Gimmick, kept the game tied at just outside 1:00 left. Comm then scored with 6 seconds left in the game to win the series 3 games to 2.
Version1 pulled out a win after 4 straight overtime Games.
