Version1 vs Andbox

Map 1 Haven: 13-4 

Version1 wanted to come in hot and through five rounds on Haven against ANDBOX – they definitely looked the part. Led by Zellsis and a couple 3K rounds, Version1 found themselves ahead 6-0 halfway through their offensive round. Penny and Vanity joined in the elimination fun to get into double digits kills as well, and the V1 roster kept pace to take a 10-0 lead merely 20 minutes into the first map. ANDBOX picked up only one round in their bout as defenders, and V1 rotates to defense up 11-1. 

From a defensive standpoint, Haven is a tough map to maintain the round winning we were seeing in the first half on offense. ANDBOX was able to pick up a few rounds to make up for lost time, but carried by the stellar slaying of Zellsis and Penny, the in-game leadership of Vanity, and the cold-blooded clutches from Effys and Wippie, we take map one 13-4. 

Map 2 Ascent: 10-13

For map two, we found ourselves attacking on Ascent. Pistol rounds and a couple strong buy rounds led us to a 3-0 lead, but it didn’t last long as ANDBOX got their funds up and was able to push back with three impressive retakes. Behind the OP play of Yay, ANDBOX took another three straight rounds. A massive Round 9 win with Penny’s Jett ult blades seemed to turn the tides a bit going into the back half of our attack and we wrap up half one down 4-8.

Defender rounds played out similarly for us, as V1 found a way to go 4-1 through round 17. ANDBOX unfortunately took the next two rounds to be first to 10. Something flipped in round 19 possibly it was Zellsis running the OP and holding site, but Version1 stole a great defense. ANDBOX regained and stuck it to us and finished map two 10-13.

Map 3 Split: 13-11 

We’re onto another game three! And are once again on Split. The first four rounds were ALL ANDBOX; things did not feel good. But a round five ace from Penny (running Reyna) into a round six win was massive for econ. We were able to battle back to 4-5 deficit. In round ten, ANDBOX planted a late spike. Vanity swung B site Phantom in hand to complete the 1v2 retake and defuse. We wrap up the offensive 5-7. 

For the defensive side, we were able to go 4-0 through the first four round to flip the script and go up 9-7. Powered by 16 kills from Effys, Zellsis and Penny, Version1 strong armed their way to a 10-7 lead. Through the back and forth of the next five rounds, V1 and ANDBOX ended up knotted at 11. In round 23, V1 picked off Yay, and the rest of ANDBOX followed suit to get a massive thrifty round for V1. We win the match point and take our first Loser’s Bracket match 2-1!
