VERSION1 vs Crazy Raccoon

Version1 wins its first match at the VCT Masters in Reykjavík

Version1 started its Masters campaign off strong, winning two close games against Crazy Raccoons to seal a victory. Both maps – Ascent and Icebox – were back and forth. A prolonged technical delay early into map two threatened momentum, but Version1 managed to stay on its toes when play resumed. Version1 returns to action on Tuesday against Team Liquid. The match is scheduled for 12:30pm CT.

Map 1: Ascent

Version1 cruised through the early rounds, going up 6-1 easily highlighted by a clutch play from Jammyz. After losing three points in a row Version1 opted to utilize a timeout to reset and rally, but they soon fell behind for the first time, down 7-8. The teams went back and forth and evened the score, 10-10. Jammyz won a nail-biting 1v1 at under 30 health points to secure the win for Version1, 13-11.

Map 2: Icebox

Icebox, arguably Version1’s favorite map was up next. Again, Version1 started strong and went up fast 3-1. After an extended technical pause the Version1 boys came back with force to win six straight games and push the score to 8-1. The Crazy Raccoons managed to rally and win a few points, putting things at 9-4 but then a last second spike defuse from Effys put V1 up 10-5. Match point was courtesy of Zellsis after a “pros don’t fake” moment on the spike, defusing just before the enemy team was able to break through. It wasn’t over yet. Version1 lost three games in a row, bringing the score up to 12-10. On an eco round, Version1 proved their place in the tournament, winning 13-10.

Version1 wins its first match-up in Iceland. The team is expected to play Team Liquid at 12:30pm CT on Tuesday, May 25.
