Map 1: Split 14-16
In our first game against Team Liquid, the first two rounds were a little dicey but a good back and forth was established between the two teams until the sides swapped. Once on the Defensive side, the Version1 team had a difficult time gaining ground and went down a few rounds to 5-10. The team found their stride and won five in a row to tie it up. Then things got spicy: the game progressed to 12-12 taking us into overtime, and then 13-13. Liquid then won but Version1 won the next game to tie it 14-14. The new score to win needed to be 16. In a series of unlucky events, Version1 lost two in a row, ending at 14-16 and Liquid claiming the first map.
Map 2: Ascent 13-11
After a hard loss on Split, Version1 came back with a vengeance and won the first five rounds. Liquid took the challenge and came back 4-5 with a flawless win to boot. After getting a little off course, the V1 team went back to win two in a row and ended the half ahead 7-5. In usual VALORANT fashion, the back and forth brought the score to 8-8 but unfortunately took the V1 economy down to nothing, leading to a team-wide eco. BUT, the V1 team wouldn’t say die and won the eco round and the one after bringing the score to 10-8. Penny proved his MVP status going nearly the whole game on 6HP and getting three kills at the very end to clutch it. With a streak of courage, V1 brought the score up to 12-8 — but Liquid was not done yet and brought the score to 12-11 with a damaged economy on both sides. With the best shock dart we’ve ever seen, Version1 evened the game with a 13-11 win.
Map 3: Haven 13-4
After losing the first game, V1 won four straight games bringing the score up 4-1. Not wanting to let Liquid take the lead, Zellsis went on a rampage and helped take the team up two more games to 6-2. With waning resistance, V1 was able to bring the score to 10-2. With two more losses after the switch, Version1 fought back to get the W with an easy 13-4 win.
